# Scope Homepage Cards

Control which records a homepage card counts, and what users see when they open it.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Who this is for:** Organization Admins configure cards. All users benefit from the scoped view when they open a card.
{% endhint %}

By default, a homepage card counts every record of its type, including retired ones. Scope a card once and its total matches the data that matters. Clicking **Manage Data** then opens the inventory with your filters, columns and sorting already applied.

## Configure a card

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open Homepage Settings

Press Cmd + K (Mac) or Ctrl + K (Windows), search for Organization Settings, and open **Homepage Settings**.

<figure><img src="https://2484004798-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FnlnB7uZ29iLVLzqGbCym%2Fuploads%2FadAKVBK0ae6l5S69IU8K%2FBetterShot_2026-10-29-10-03-43.png?alt=media&amp;token=e091c259-a9ce-4b6a-93b3-a96c59a43c93" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Choose what the card counts

Select the workspaces to include in the card total. For example, exclude retired applications so the card reflects only active data.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Set what users see

Select **Edit settings** to open the inventory drawer and set:

* **Filters** to narrow to the records users should see, for example by lifecycle, criticality or a reference condition.
* **Columns** to show the attributes that matter and hide the rest.
* **Sorting** to put the most important records first.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Save

Save your configuration. Every user who selects **Manage Data** on the card now lands on the view you set.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Common uses

* Exclude retired or phased-out applications so the card counts live systems only.
* Sort by Criticality in descending order and hide empty values so high-impact records rise to the top.
* Hide low-value columns and add the fields users act on, such as Consumes Reference.

## Best practices

* **Match each card to a real workflow.** Scope the card around the question users ask when they open it, not around all available data.
* **Test in a sandbox first**, if available, before rolling out to the whole organization.
* **Keep the count trustworthy.** Exclude records that would mislead users at a glance.

## Limitations

* Scope, columns and sorting are set at the organization level and apply to all users. They can't vary by role, group or individual.
* Each card holds one configuration. To offer a different slice, use a separate card.
